Favorite Scripture: Because I am an A+ personality- I struggle with “works” so my favorite verse is John  6:29    Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
Testimony:

I am currently the Director of Education at H.H.H. Inc.

I was born in North Dakota and moved to the Bay Area of California settling in Los Altos. My father was a career police officer joining the Menlo Park Police Department in 1964. Although my mom and dad were law abiding citizens, I picked a different course.

My primary drug activities revolved around the chemistry of extraction, evolving to synthesis and manufacture. Drug use progressed upward with associations that would one day bring doom and despair into my life. I advanced in academics as well as athletics, leading me to believe I was invincible, and that nothing was beyond my ability. The U.S. Air force paid for my way through medical school as my advancing drug abuse and involvement escalated. After graduating from Med-school I was stationed in the South East Asian Theater. I soon discovered that trafficking China White Heroin was a thrilling and rewarding opportunity. This eventually precipitated my arrest and conviction in a military court-martial for use and possession of marijuana and heroin with the intent to sell and distribute and larceny of government property. My initial sentence carried 45 years. I served 10 months confinement at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. In spite of all this, I did not have the ability to break the vicious addiction cycle.

I met my current wife, Brenda, on a blind date in Bakersfield, California, on July 20, 1979. Little did I or she realize that God was going to use the blind date to open both of our eyes and hearts. Our first daughter was born just after our first wedding anniversary in 1982. On Easter Sunday, 1984, at Calvary Chapel, Bellflower, God spoke to both of us and we surrendered our lives to Him, as we understood. However; I soon discovered that I could stop using drugs and alcohol, but another start event date was coming.

Eventually, I learned that God’s grace was sufficient for me not to start using substances again. I still have a strong “flesh” that often raises its ugly head. This has caused me to lose everything that God had restored in my life. God has continued to chasten me in order that I would completely surrender to God’s control over my prideful flesh.

Me and my wife, along with our 3 daughters moved to Auburn, California in 1995 and started fellowshipping at Calvary Chapel, Auburn.  We are currently serving at Calvary Chapel Auburn and have found our home church!

Our oldest daughter Natalie, is married to Graham Ryland, and they live in West Sacramento California. Our middle child, Ashley, and our youngest child, Hannah, still live with us.

I am extremely grateful that God and Brenda has had and is still having patience with me. Neither one of them has ever left me or forsook me though I have deserved worse, until I got my walk with Christ on track. I truly love my wife and the ministry opportunities at Calvary Chapel Auburn that God has allowed us to serve in.
